ebs4 is a flagship product for Tribal group, and is the UK’s market leading student information management solution. Currently in place in over 120 of the UKs best colleges, ebs is also growing internationally with a significant presence in the APAC region.
In this context the Development Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our development, test and support teams are continually striving to achieve the best possible product for our customers.
To make this happen our ideal candidate will combine two key attributes:
- A really strong, credible and proven software development background. Working with the Product Manager and Product Owner you will be responsible for ensuring that the product is robust, reliable and continues to be something we can really be proud of.
- Leadership skills. You will be the focal point for the team, and so it’s vital that you are passionate about motivating, inspiring and providing direction.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Responsible for the successful delivery of products and solutions to clients
- Correction of errors and omissions in releases
- Responsible for making the best use of the development teams to improve/ maximise the efficiency of the development team
- Ensure adherence to agreed overall architecture and software development standards
- Ensure the execution of detailed code reviews and assess overall code quality and flexibility, and application of good programming techniques
- Work with Product Manager/Owner and internal customer stakeholders to understand requirements and produce technical designs and estimates for software projects
- Provide an effective 3rd line support service to standards set out by the Product Manager/Owner.
- Effectively plan and create forward visibility of the next release, tracking progress and risk
- Provide support, when required, to the other management teams in the business
- Provide leadership, management and inspiration to the team
- Demonstrate and embed the organisation’s values and behaviours through proactively managing the recruitment, performance and development of staff
- Support the achievement of the business’ objectives
- Operate within and manage budgets as required
