Senior Technical Software Developer
Job description
As a technical software developer you will be part of Wärtsilä’s new focus on digitalization. You will develop and improve Wärtsilä’s next-generation of condition- and performance monitoring- and maintenance management services.
This new focus on digitalization has led to the setup of the Asset Performance Optimization organization. You will develop and maintain innovative B2B products, for our marine clients. The APO organisation will manage and develop products and services that enhance the performance of our customer’s most valuable assets like engines, propulsion systems and rotating equipment, and therefore generates cost savings.
APO products and services involve data acquisition, connectivity, data analytics and visualization, and novel concepts such as data mining, machine learning and predictive analytics will be applied. As a technical software developer, you will be part of a product development department consisting of programmers, designers and domain experts in areas such as physics and analytics, but also for example ship performance. In certain projects, development teams are extended with key delivery stakeholders, such as data analysts that deliver condition monitoring services, or connectivity experts responsible for connecting sites.
What are your main tasks and responsibilities?
• You participate in the development of new APO products and services.
• Actively work on continuous improvement efforts that enhance reliability and performance, and provide increased functionality for existing APO products and services.
• Participate in efforts aimed at harmonization and consolidation of existing APO products and services.
• You are responsible for design, implementation, review and testing tasks in-, and occasionally outside your area of expertise.
• The opportunity to coordinate development activities and to take a leading role as a Product Owner or Scrum Master
• Collaborate with lead developers on architecture design and evaluation and with data scientists and subject matter experts to create advanced analytical algorithms and software.
• Experienced software developers have the opportunity to coach and guide colleagues in their field of expertise.
